Experience
I am trained in the Client Centred
approach, am a Pink Therapy Accredited Sexual Minorities Therapist, and
have been counselling people in both the mainstream and sex and gender
minorities since 1999.
Valuing each client as an individual I
offer a non-judgemental space, working with accepting warmth and humour. I
truly understand the importance of being heard, support my clients in
finding their own strengths and solutions, and seek to promote positive
self-regard so as to strengthen people for life - whatever it brings.
I have experience of working
successfully with a wide range of human issues including loss and
bereavement, life transitions, relationship issues, social anxiety, and
recovery from abuse; and have supported people in overcoming diverse
addictions and self harm.
Previously in Special Education I am
also familiar with the additional difficulties that can arise from being
physically or mentally challenged, and have worked with people who are
partially sighted, have CP, RA, and ASD.
Professional Standards
Sustaining good practice is important
to me. I have both individual and peer group supervision, and undertake
personal and professional development through participating in a wide
variety of courses and workshops each year.
I work within the British Association
for Counselling and Psychotherapy Ethical Framework and am answerable to
their complaints procedure should my practice be found wanting in their
recognised professional standards.
I am an individual member of;
- B.A.C.P. (British
Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
- B.A.P.C.A. (British
Association for the Person Centred Approach)
